I write this article at 35k feet above the Middle East, 5 hours into a 6.5 hour flight to Abu Dhabi. I do think it’s incredible how technology has moved on, and allows us to communicate wherever we are in the world, however high we are! As you’ll notice from my previous post, I’m using an Etihad Guest miles redemption to fly to Abu Dhabi for 6 days, to enjoy some time with my family, split across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. More about that in the next few days! But I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the Etihad Lounge situation at Heathrow Terminal 4.
I’ve heard some fantastic reviews about the lounge and was eager to flash my Silver Etihad guest pass to the hostess (no pun intended!) in the lounge foyer to gain access to what I can see as a lounge rivalling the BA Concorde lounge. What I wasn’t expecting though was a sign right outside the door, saying that they were closed for refurbishment and that I was to proceed to the Gulf Air First class lounge at the other end of T4! I suppose the silver lining is that I was able to experience another airline lounge and have got a detailed review which I’ll be uploading shortly. It’s a shame as I was looking forward to my Six Senses Spa visit and champagne, but Gulf still made a decent effort to accommodate me!
For those like me who are travelling on Etihad out of Heathrow T4 in the coming weeks, heads up that this is closed, and for those hoping for a review of this, don’t worry, I’ll be flying out on Etihad again in the New Year so I’ll have a chance to be one of the first to write an up to date post on the refurb!
